About

I’ve got a real passion for mountain biking and the outdoors. I snowboard and ski both alpine and cross country. I’m a very happy father of 2 and a husband. I grew up on the North Shore of Massachusetts and I’ve lived all over Boston, in Boulder, and also San Francisco. I currently live just outside of Cambridge, MA.  But that’s probably not why you’re reading my ‘About’ page.

I’ve been marketing and working online for about 8 years. In the beginning I built and optimized sites and campaigns for local real estate leads. My bank data site however is optimized for a specific niche rather than locale.

I know HTML and CSS. I also know a bit of PHP and Javascript which I learned as part of of the process of designing and building distressedpro.com and other websites. I’m learning Ruby. I know WordPress inside and out from an admin and optimization perspective, I’ve built sites on Drupal, and Joomla as well.  I outsource most of my heavy coding to reliable experts whom I’ve been working with for some time so that I can focus on the business and marketing end of things.

In terms of online marketing I’ve focused on on-page SEO, content syndication, and social media. Building what amounts to spammy back links across the web from a bunch of shitty sites holds no appeal to me whatsoever, I suspect that ‘SEOs’ who’ve relied on this in the past are in for a rude awakening as the web continues to evolve with social media etc. If your’e astute enough to check this page for SEO optimization you’ll notice I haven’t done any and that’s because there’s no goal here…

I focus on lead generation and conversion at my sites first and traffic second. I’ve written and implemented a number of very successful email marketing campaigns including auto-responder series and report or white paper opt-ins. I’ve produced a ton of screencast videos for my web app and in the early days of my real estate career I was putting a lot of property ‘reality TV style’ videos up to drive leads.

1989 FJ62 Toyota LandCruiser

I drive this 1989 FJ62 Toyota Land Cruiser around for fun and take a Zip Car for business. I bought it from an old couple that kept it garaged at their summer home… It had only 95k miles on it when I got it (fewer than 5k miles per year) and almost no body rust. The thing is sweet, vintage even. Lots of fun. Even though the MPG sucks I figure it’s environmentally friendly because I’m basically recycling it…

Pivot Mach 5.7

This is currently my favorite bike in the stable, Pivot Mach 5.7.

This is my favorite bike right now. I rode a Santa Cruz Chameleon set up with a 160mm Lyric in the front and one speed for the last few years but alas my old bones prefer the rear suspension. This has 5.7 in the front and rear. The wheels are ridiculously light. The suspension is exactly as it should be.

I don’t have any pictures of my wife and kids on here because I think it’s a little creepy to distribute that stuff all over the web. It’s the same reason I don’t have my FaceBook link here, basically because you’re anonymous.
